It would have made more sense to transfer it to a temp host. Or even better into one of the sealing pots like they did with Shukaku or the Hachibi. Yes they are hard to come by but it makes more sense than taking such a risk.
I doubt that this makes sense bro since the Kyuubi's chakra contains the strongest hatred which is quite capable at corrupting people and very dangerous for Konoha. We saw what happened to the Cloud Village when they were experimenting with vessels. Minato was just smart enough to realize that its better to create a capable vessel that sacrifice a hundred of his fellow shinobis in the off chance that one of them might house it for a small period of time. And the jars was a means to hold down the Shukaku and the Hachibi not the Kyuubi which has the most volatile chakra from all the Bijuus. If that could have been done then the Senju would never have turned into the Uzumaki clan for vessels.

Timing and execution were awful if this was his plan.
His execution came into the moment that it needed to come. Madara attacked and Minato had the seal and the intelligence to leave Naruto with his and his mother chakra in him to pass down information. When the chakra of the Kyuubi reached its peek in the Nagato conflict he even had another fail safe for Naruto waiting.

How could he know that Naruto would manifest such powers? There have been no recorded incidence of any host having that affect. Sensing emotions sure but turning wood element to trees.
We already know that Minato was aware of what Naruto would gain. In the Nagato battle he talked to Naruto that only a shinobi with a certain set of skills could kill Madara. It would be pointless and unreasonable for anyone to pass down this power to his son without having a thorough knowledge of what would happen to him. That is why Minato created this way for Naruto to control the Kyuubi.

Hold on the seal will weaken whilst giving birth, maybe not such a good idea.
It couldn't have happened any way else. If there wasn't a birth then the Kyuubi would either be in a jar sealed if that is something that can be done for the Kyuubi or we would see countless of vessels being sacrificed just to keep the Kyuubi from roaming free. Minato knew that Konoha needed a vessel. An Uzumaki was the best candidate. His son which he knew that he would control the Kyuubi was the best case.
Minato was always aware that his actions during the shinobi war would make him and the village a top target. He also knew that the shinobi system would always house war and conflict. Creating this path for Naruto was Minato's way of creating a hero that would protect the village and keep the Kyuubi from falling into the wrong hands.
If Minato just sealed the Kyuubi into his son without any tutorials or fail safes then I would say that he just got lucky but seeing all the measures that he took to secure that Naruto would obtain the Kyuubi's power while also learning of what happened in the past speaks of volumes of planning and preparation and thorough insight.
